Jack Evans, Full-Time Councilmember

If Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans has seemed a little more absorbed with his D.C. Council work lately, maybe there’s a reason for that. The one-time poster boy for councilmembers with second jobs is no longer moonlighting at lobbying firm Patton Boggs.

Evans left Patton Boggs on Jan. 31 after the firm’s merger with another firm, according to Evans spokesman Tom Lipinsky. That means LL is a little late to finding this out, but hey, Evans is still listed on the now renamed Squire Patton Boggs’ website.

Evans’ nearly 14-year-tenure at the lobbying powerhouse earned him a share of potential conflicts of interests and a hefty amount of cash (His 2014 financial disclosure form lists his salary from the firm as falling somewhere between $100,001 and $250,000.). The firm also bankrolled Evans’ other career aspirations, with lawyers from Patton Boggs contributing heavily to both his 1998 and 2014 mayoral runs.

Ward 2 residents can expect Evans’ undivided attention for at least a little while longer. Lipinsky tells LL that Evans hasn’t taken another job outside the Council.
