Mayor’s Order 2011-106 established the Mayor’s Health Reform Implementation Committee (HRIC), which is comprised of three separate subcommittees designed to help the HRIC meet its core healthcare objectives. The DC Department of Health (DOH) has been charged with managing the Health Delivery System subcommittee that consists of twelve members from the public health and academic community. The inaugural meeting of the HRIC Subcommittee on Health Delivery System will be held this Thursday, November 3, 2011 at DOH headquarters at 1pm and will be chaired by DOH Director, Dr. Mohammad Akhter.

The subcommittee will meet to finalize its organization and devise a strategic plan to initiate the efforts of its five component Work Groups as defined under the Mayor’s Order – Integration of prevention into the delivery system; Patient safety; Quality of care improvement; Healthcare delivery options; and Manpower training.

The Subcommittee is expected to continue its efforts until fully implemented on January 31, 2014.
